B.R.O.C.K.

While Vince was out and about all day working on a Valentine's Day surprise {yay!}, I took advantage of a day off and started working on decor for Brock's room. I knew I wanted to get some decorative letters to hang over his crib so I headed off to Hobby Lobby to grab a few supplies.

I ended up with:
  • 5 - chip letters
  • Small bottle of Blue acrylic paint
  • Sponge paint brush
  • E-6000 glue
  • Blue marbles from the floral department

This project was incredibly quick and easy. The letters can be as elaborate as you want so be creative! I decided to keep them simple since they're for baby boy's room.

{Step 1} Start by painting each letter with a coat of acrylic paint using a sponge brush {don't forget the edges!}.

{Step 2} Using E-6000 glue marbles along the edges of each letter.

{Step 3} Let the glue dry, display finished letters, & enjoy!

I'm really happy with how the letters ended up and I can't wait to hang them in Brock's room. It felt so good to finally have some free time to craft again and I can't wait to make a few more things to finish off our baby boy's mini man-cave nursery!

Party Like A Brock Star!

We are so hapy to announce that IT'S A BOY! We are completely overwhelmed and still in shock, but we couldn't be happier! Without further ado, here's our little Brock star!

Brock looks like he has his daddy's nose and mouth already!

Brock's BIG feet!

Brock's arm & hand. While measuring his bones the sonogram nurse stopped, turned to Vincent and asked, "How tall are you?". When he told her 6'5" she said, "It's going to be one tall baby!" Apparently Brock's bones are already measuring long! Like father, like son!

Baby Brock's face!

It's a boy! And, he's not very modest...haha!

Towards the end of our sonogram Baby Brock got tired of taking pictures (just like daddy) and covered his face with his hand. Shortly after he started sticking his tounge out at us! Oh Lord, my son's a character already!

We are on cloud 9 and can't wait to meet our precious little, err BIG, boy!

And the Nesting Begins...

Woohoo! After a month of re-organizing, clearing out our "junk room" for Baby Chase's nursery, and several trips to Catholic Charities to drop off donations, our house is almost back in order! Thanks to the stormy weather tonight Vincent was able to come home early from work and help me load a dining room full of boxes into our attic. After a some detail cleaning our dining room has been returned to it's former glory and we are pretty excited to eat dinner at our table again!

With the completion of our dining room we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Next up, the living room!

Weekend Roundup

Happy Monday! We're recovering from a very busy, but totally awesome weekend! Vince and I spent majority of this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas for AdvoCare Success School. It was our first time to attend since joining the company last September and we were overwhelmed with the amount of people, the incredible speakers and the wealth of knowledge we received. So here's a rundown of our weekend at Success School...

{Friday} - Check into the Hilton Fort Worth, Dinner at Mi Cocina & off to bed early to rest up for an eventful Saturday!

{Saturday} - Breakfast buffet at the hotel, 8a.m. start to Success School, lunch at Cantina Laredo, motivational speaker Andy Andrews, dinner & a night out at Scott & Krista's.

{Sunday} - 8am Chapel Service with Mike Huckabee, final classes at Success School, lunch at Chili's & a quiet evening at home.

I should note that while Tasha and I were having a relaxing evening at home last night, Vincent got into a car wreck. Thank goodness nobody was hurt, but after a long weekend it was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

That just about sums it up. There are so many amazing things that we learned this weekend and we left Fort Worth fired-up and motivated to make 2012 an amazing year for our business. If you're looking for a way to improve your health and finances we'd love for you to join our team! Check out our Advocare site for more information!

Baby Chase Gets A Nursery!

After two full weekends of working and a little chaos in-between, Baby Chase’s nursery is finally coming together! We won’t find out till next week whether Baby Chase (BC) is a boy or a girl, but we wanted to get a head start on converting our guest bedroom (a.k.a. junk room) into a perfect little nursery.

{Step 1 – Get rid of everything!} My two weeks of vacation during the holidays was spent on this step alone! It was pretty time-consuming to sort, move and get rid of everything that was already in BC’s room. After two trips to Catholic Charities, two full trash/recycling bins and a yard full ready for bulk trash pick-up, the room was empty and ready for a make-over!

{Step 2 – No more carpet!} I was always curious why the previous owners decided to cover up the gorgeous hard wood floor with carpet. I’ve been wanting to pull it up since we moved in and with BC’s room finally empty I jumped at the opportunity. Thanks to mom, dad and Vincent, all the carpet has been removed and the original wood floors cleaned and shined. I’m so happy with the end result!

{Step 3 – Furniture Time!} Thanks to my amazing parents we received some of our baby furniture as Christmas gifts this year. I was excited to get BC’s crib moved in to see how much space we had to work with. We plan to add a wardrobe, dresser/changing table, toy box and rocking chair. We were hoping we would be able to get the already assembled crib moved from mom & dad’s to the nursery without a hitch, but with narrow doorways Vince and dad spent the evening disassembling and re-assembling!
